Rein

Rein Godefroij is a versatile Dutch pianist and composer based in The Hague. Born into a musical family in Breda, he began studying classical piano at a young age, but switched to jazz in his teenage years — a turning point that marked the start of his musical career. In 2006, he graduated cum laude from the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague.

Debut Album

In 2017, Godefroij released his debut trio album It Will Come. The album was praised for its lyrical quality, dynamics, and refined touch — always in service of the music. It received attention on Dutch radio, including in the program Vrije Geluiden on NPO Radio 4.

Projects and Performances

Rein Godefroij is active in a variety of prominent projects. He regularly performs with soul and jazz singer Sabrina Starke, singer-songwriter TOINE and previously toured as pianist with the Paul van Kemenade Quintet.

Through these and other collaborations, he has performed extensively in the Netherlands, Germany, Austria, Spain, Egypt, Tanzania, Zanzibar, South Africa, Botswana, Uzbekistan, and beyond.
